Inspiration
I searched for inspiration in a comic book called Saga by Fiona Staples. I picked it because it got a variety of characters like ghosts, magical creatures and more.
I like how the artist approached the design of this character and determined Izabel's look by her personality. Her reddish appearance symbolizes Izabel being a powerful spiritual protector, which she became due to an accident. Her luck od the bottom half is a result of Izabel stepping on a landmine. Despite her appearance, she is very confident and likes to tart fights due to her temper as a teen. Although she may seem like an evil spirit, Izabel is a great protector and a babysitter.

Protagonist character design
In my story, a character becomes a ghost due to a car accident. Compared to Izabel, Sarah is in her ghost form temporarily due to a comma. Due to Sarah's body being healthy and uninjured, I couldn't make her ghost missing body parts. However, I decided to pick a colour to reflect her personality. I choose the pink colour for her ghost appearance to express the cheerfulness and clumsiness of a 17 years old girl. However, these harmful traits don't stop her from being impulsive and making bad decisions that put her life at risk. She is mentally a child that makes decisions without thinking about consequences. I picked a tint called baby pink to show that.

When designing Sarah's outfit I was thinking about how workplaces and companies use the colour from their logo for the design of clothes and buildings. She was working in a coffee shop I made, therefore her outfit should include some coffee colours. In my old workplace, we had polo T-shirts with the logo of the company and we could choose to wear whatever we wanted with them. I thought it may be a good idea to add some personality to Sarah's outfit such as pink accents on the clothing and accessories. Together these two pieces make a great casual and work outfit for Sarah.
Supporting character design

Name: Alvie.
Age: 17.
A student, loves coffee and reading books.
When designing a supporting character for the protagonist I thought he should be an intelligent friend who will help the main character through her journey.
I thought a great way of making a character look smarter will be to give him pair of glasses. At first, he looked like Harry Potter, which I did not intend to do. However, after a few adjustments to the face and hair, it turned out pretty well.
While the protagonist is associated with the colour pink, I thought a good contrast for it will be blue. The blue colour signifies intelligence and trust, which is an important part of the story. The supporting character should be a person to rely on who will help the protagonist.
